Traditionally, respiratory infections required multiple tests for a single pathogen. This meant taking multiple samples and thus extended the testing process for days on end. Star Medical Lab offers a Respiratory Panel that requires a single sample which tests for multiple pathogens, viruses and bacteria simultaneously. In most cases it tests for 17 viral and 4 bacterial infectious agents, making Complete Respiratory panel Testing a high-level molecular lab test.
The results are gathered within 24-48 hours, compared to other respiratory testing methods that can take several days. Quick processing time, and quick results mean early detection and initial of appropriate treatment. Comprehensive Respiratory Panel Testing also enables healthcare providers to improve patient care by providing comprehensive testing for diagnosis and treatment for upper respiratory infections.
A complete respiratory panel may be recommended by your primary care physician if you are presented with the following symptoms:

At Star Medical Lab we are delighted to offer you assistance with all your health related troubles.
The Complete Respiratory Panel Testing requires only a swab of your nasopharynx, or your nose, which is basically the top most part of your nose and throat. You would be asked to sit in a chair and tilt your head back to assist with taking a sample of your nose by taking a swab through your nose and then gently guiding it to the point where your nose meets your throat. The swab would then be rotated to allow for the secretions to absorb for a couple of seconds.
After taking the sample, it is placed in a sterile container and sent to the lab for testing.
The Comprehensive Respiratory Panel may significantly reduce the duration for which an antibiotic is taken, the length of stay of the inpatient and the amount of time that a patient is expected to be isolated. Improved clinical outcomes also result in cutting down unnecessary costs and increase overall patient satisfaction.
